Quote of the day:

"Birds are indicators of the environment. If they are in trouble, we know we'll soon be in trouble."

Robert Tory Peterson

An accidental spill of bird seeds reminded me of a swarm of birds in the sky.

I used wire to create these bird sculptures.

I found it difficult to capture close-up shots of the birds in motion. So I decided to make a bird feeder using double side tape to hold the seeds so it would take the birds more time to get the seeds, therefore allowing me to photograph them in movement.

The lighting in the room created these lovely bird shadows from my cutout miniature paper birds.

Quote of the day

"The reason birds can fly and we can't is simply that they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings."

I quickly realized that the best time to capture large flocks of birds is in the evening at dusk, before they settle in the trees for the night. I love the shapes they make as I caught them flapping their wings.

I tried to re-create the birds I  captured in picture buy cutting out a large anount of tiny black birds out of paper, I stuck them onto a grey wall, similar to the color of the sky in my picture. My aim was to try and recreat the formation of the birds in the pictures.. I also hung birds from the ceiling using clear fishing wire. The birds hanging from the ceiling were hanging close to a door. Everytime the door would open or close it would cause the birds to move, causing movement and motion.
